Hey there blue eyes…

Yesterday Addie and I ran into Sears to pick up some vacuum bags. There was an older gentleman in front of us that looked back at Addie and said “hey there blue eyes.” My first thought was that this guy was a little loony because, if you haven’t noticed, Addie doesn’t exactly have blue eyes. Then I started wondering if he was maybe talking to me which was just kind of creepy. I told Addie to say hi (which she didn’t) and he said to me “She has such beautiful blue eyes!” Um…thanks? lol what do you say to that? Addie’s eyes are not even close to blue. If they were green I could say maybe he was color blind but they are very much brown. Very brown.

I get when people think she’s a he but blue eyes?

Why does my child hate sleeping?

Apparently we are now on the every other day nap schedule.

Addie refused to nap last Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday. So far she has been in her bed crying for the past 40 minutes and so far, no sleep.

It isn’t like she just sits around all day and doesn’t burn off any energy. She goes constantly and really really still needs this nap for any chance of not being a total grump after 4pm.

Not to mention, I still desperately need this nap. Addie isn’t really into playing by herself for more than say, 3 seconds, so her nap time is the only time of day I get to get things done or to do nothing.

We are not giving up naps before 2. No way!

iPod Touch

I got an iPod Touch for Christmas! I also installed the WordPress app so I can post to the site from anywhere. I’m writing this post from it actually!

This thing is very cool and the automatic spelling correction works very well. It took me a little while to get used to typing on it, but I think I’m getting the hang of it.

Crib Acrobats

This afternoon Addie decided was not a good time for napping (surprise). We went through her naptime routine and she laid in her bed and talked to her animals (Lord knows she has plenty in there to talk to!). Normally she chatters for 5-10 minutes then goes to sleep but not today! An hour later she was still talking. An hour and fifteen minutes later she was getting a little fussy but not screaming bloody murder.

Then I hear it, the worst sound known to mothers, THUD! WAIL!! I ran in and there she is, laying on her back on the floor. Apparently her decent was not a graceful one. But, like the Addie we know and love, she cried for less than a minute, saw a kitty and has been in a great mood since.

*sigh* We’ll keep trying the crib and hope she stays in although I’m not feeling real confident about that. I was really hoping to put off the big girl bed for a while yet.

Microwave buttons?

How many people out there actually use all the functions of their Microwave? Ours must have at least a dozen different modes for heating / reheating different types of food. As far as Kristen is concerned it has only one button, the one that starts the Microwave for 30 seconds. I only ever use the “time cook” function. Maybe I should check into some of these other things? Surely someone added them for a reason. Then again, maybe they don’t actually do anything because the manufacturer knows that no one uses them any way.
