Monthly Archive for January, 2009

Oops!

Well, that only took one month, to the day. I just busted my R/C truck. I was running it around the back yard and I hit one of the roots from the magnolia tree and it flipped my truck on its lid. I broke the rear shock tower, which is where the shocks attach to the truck. So, right now the rear shocks do nothing and the back of the truck just sits on the ground. It’s apparently a pretty common breakage so I don’t feel all that bad about it. Here’s a picture of what it should look like:

And where’s a picture of what it currently looks like:

Thankfully, the replacement part is only $5. An upgraded version from an after-market vendor is only $16. I’ll probably just get the $16 version so I don’t have to keep replacing them.

Speechless

I’ve lost my voice. Addie has had a cold for the last week or so and I ended up with it. Now I can’t speak louder than a whisper. I’ve been reduced to the same semi-charades that Addie uses.

I’m sure Kristen doesn’t mind the silence.

Welcome to the new server!

If you’re reading this then you’re connecting to the new web hosting company. I hope you notice the big speed improvement that we’re seeing here. I think its quite a bit faster now.

Picture Delay

I apologize that it has been so long since I’ve uploaded pictures. I have a bunch ready to go but the website has been down and/or slow lately so I haven’t gotten them posted for you.

We, and by we I mean Adam, decided to switch hosting sites (I think I got that right) so it will be a while yet before I can upload anything. Maybe a weekish – hopefully not more! But once the switch is made hopefully we’ll have less down time and a faster site.

The Sleeplessness Continues

What an enjoyable night!  HA!

After skipping her nap yesterday (noticing a theme here?) Addie ended up going to bed around 7:20 because dinner took a bit longer than I had planned.  She fell asleep great and I figured she was so tired she’d sleep great.  Wrong.

Shortly after 11, just as we were getting ready for bed, she started crying.  Not a “I’m just crying for a minute and then I’ll go back to sleep.”  After 15 minutes I went in, rocked her and she calmed down.  When I laid her back down she started screaming again which is normal but she usually goes to sleep in a couple minutes.  Not this time.  10 minutes later I went in again, changed her diaper, changed her pajamas and rocked her again to calm her down.  Laid her back down and she started screaming.  Again.

This was 11:37.  At 12:58 I went back and got her and brought her downstairs figuring maybe at least Adam could get some sleep (he was not exactly a happy at this point).  By 2am she was still awake flopping back and forth on the couch, telling the cats “no” and trying to look at the pictures on the wall.  Alright, enough of that.  We went back up to her room and went through the whole bedtime routine.  I laid her down and she started screaming again.  Fabulous.  By about 2:45 she actually quieted down and went to sleep.

In my mind I kept thinking “maybe she’ll sleep a little bit later to make up for the 3 1/2 hours she just missed.  I have no idea why I let these thoughts creep in to my mind all they do is set me up to be disappointed.  At 6:15, a mere 3 1/2 hours since she actually fell asleep she started crying.  Fortunately it was just on and off again crying for the next hour.  By 7:20 she was done and ready to “go go go.”
