A is for…

A while back my friend Terra introduced me to an amazing website called No Time for Flashcards.  It is done by an amazing stay at home mom who is a former preschool teacher and does some sort of project with her son every day!  Way more ambitious than I even dream of being.  :)   But the cool thing is her son is around Addie’s age (slightly older I think?) and she really focuses on things that this age is able to do and capitalizes on their interests.  One thing she does a lot with is letters so she has inspired me to do a letter of the week.  I’ve been meaning to do this for a long time now but am just now getting around to it…better late than never right?

Anyways, this week was the letter A.  We probably won’t go in order but it seemed like a good starting point.

Monday we made an A into an Alligator…

A is for Alligator

Wednesday and Thursday (the paint took longer to dry than I had anticipated) we made an ant…

Ant 2

And today we did some painting with apples.  Well, it started that way.  It turned into finger painting!

Potty Training

So it turns out this isn’t nearly as bad as I was anticipating.  Thanks mostly to Jelly Beans.  :)

We’re on day 3 of accident free days and today is going great!  We’ve been going to stores, to our activities including the library, a friends house (this made me the most nervous) and wee walkers with any problems!  In fact, public bathrooms are apparently far more impressive than ours at home.  The second we walk into a store I hear “potty, potty!”  *sigh*  You just went 5 minutes ago before we left home!  But okay, let’s go find the potty.  And the second we walk out of the bathroom “potty, potty!”  No, you just went!  “Again, potty again”  lol  I was worried she’d be afraid of the toilets flushing but so far that seems to be her favorite part of the whole experience which cracks me up.

A Day of Firsts

Today wasa  big day of firsts around here!

- Today was the first day Addie was feeling LOTS better!  I am so happy because I felt really bad for her and was struggling because I couldn’t get anything done with her whining, crying, clinging, sick little self.  Yesterday morning she seemed to be feeling better but then after her nap had a fever again.  She struggled a bit through the night last night, although mostly because she lost her water and baby somewhere in the bed.  Today she woke up and seemed like her normal self…and stayed that way all day!  In just 4 days I forgot how busy she normally is!  :)

- Today was the first time Addie used a public bathroom!  I wasn’t really excited about potty training when she decided she was but I wasn’t going to say no.  So it turns out I’m kind of all or nothing person when it comes to this.  We’re either going to do it or we’re not.  If I’m around odds are pretty good that she doesn’t have a diaper on (except when she was sick and what not).  I’ve even gotten brave enough to take her out in public without a diaper but up until today I just did it for short trips.  Since I didn’t take into consideration that it might take the guy at Lowes 45 minutes to mix a quart of paint I had planned on our outting being shorter than it was.  As soon as we got in the car after Lowes she started saying “potty, potty” so we quick made our way to Target (our next stop) and ran to the closest bathroom where of course she wouldn’t pee.  Not 5 minutes later she was asking to go potty again so we tried again and sure enough she peed!  Woohoo for Addie!  Then before we left Target she wanted to again and then later at Archiver’s she wanted to go again.  :)   (It was a busy day…we haven’t been abole to get out much this week.)  She thinks flushing the toilets is fun…whever floats her boat.

- Today was the first time Addie got to ride on the end of the cart.  lol  A small thing but it was cute none-the-less.  She thought it was fun but kept running off whenever I stopped to grab something so it didn’t last real long.

- Today was the first day I broke down and turned on the air conditioner.  Today was hot and sticky and tomorrow is supposed to be 99-101 depending on which channel you watch.  Hot enough for air conditioning.  I was hoping to make it to July but I was also hoping not to see 100s until July.

And we’ll end on a last…

- Today was the last day of painting the office!  Hooray!  Monday I picked up the paint, Tuesday I primed during Addie’s nap, Wednesday I painted the first coat, Thursday the second coat and today I painted the trim!  It looks awesome and I can’t wait to get it set up and things back where they belong.  That will be a tomorrow project though.

Today is also June 19th (in case you hadn’t heard) which means only 3 more months until our due date!  YIKES!  Both exciting and scary at the same time.  I feel more prepared for a baby and the acual having a baby part but way less prepared as far as having stuff out and organized goes.  Maybe because I realize baby doesn’t care.

I think that is the end of my update for today.  :)

Pictures

I am finally done editting/uploading pictures from Minnesota!  Hopefully this week I can get caught up on the few I’ve taken since we’ve been home…

So Proud…

This morning Addie and I went to get bagels, cream cheese and orange juice for breakfast.  We ran to Panera to get the bagels and then over to Harris Teeter for cream cheese and orange juice.  As soon as we walked into Harris Teeter Addie headed straight for the little kids shopping carts.  Since we were just getting a couple things and the store was virtually empty I figured I’d let her get one.  As soon as she got her cart she went and grabbed an ad and started turning the pages.  Then when we got the checkout she wanted “pons” (coupons).  lol  Apparently I’ve taught her well.  :)
