Kristina, this is for you
A lot has changed since my last update!
Most exciting, Addie is 3!! How in the world did that happen already? Must mean we’re getting old! She was so excited for her birthday this year but kept getting it confused with St. Patrick’s Day.
The evening of the 20th I asked her if she knew what tomorrow was and she kept insisting it was St. Patrick’s Day. Goofy kid! But the morning of her birthday she was so excited. She wanted cake for breakfast which we said no to but we compromised and headed to Panera for a pastry for her and bagels for the rest of us. Then we opened gifts, she got a bunch of new fun things! Thomas books (and really, it doesn’t get much better than Thomas!), a sandwich making set, a dress, a responsibility chart, some wiki sticks, a couple games, and a kaboost for her chair. We did some playing, lunch, “naptime” and finally the cake. She wanted a pink turtle cake and that’s what she got. He looked like he had some issues but she loved it and told me “it’s exactly what I wanted!” Mind you I probably could have made a blue frog and she’d of told me the same thing but it was cute none-the-less. All in all a great third birthday. She has already started asking when her birthday will be again.
She’s gotten to do a lot of new and exciting things now that she’s 3. We took her booster seat off her chair so she sits at the table like a big girl, she got to try shrimp for the first time (she didn’t like it), and we turned her car seat around. And she is THE WORST backseat driver EVER! Although she’s getting better. But the first couple trips were hilariously obnoxious. “Mommy, a stop sign up ahead!” at every single stoplight! Today when we were backing out of a parking spot she said to me “Why is there a show on there?” Huh? I quickly figured out she was seeing the back-up camera in my rear-view mirror! Too funny and a pretty boring show!
A few days before Addie’s big celebration Pipes turned 6 months old! Again, how did that happen? She is super cute, fun and a pretty happy baby. While my mom was visiting she decided to teach her some nasty habits and taught her to sit by herself. Adam told my mom that if she teaches her to walk she has to stay. But she’s very proud of her sitting ability and is happy to show it off. She’s also apparently learned her smiling techniques from her daddy because she already has a cheese smile. It is sooooo freakin’ adorable but very cheesey!
We had a great visit while my mom was here! Addie wore her out running her up and down the hill out back searching for rocks, sticks, worms, shells and other treasures. We spent some time at the park, checked out the Farmer’s Market (where we came home with lots of yummy pastries and no vegetables lol), and spent a day at the Museum of Life and Sciences in Durham. A very cool place that I highly recommend my fellow Raleighites check out. We also ate like kings while she was here! (Except that one night we had leftovers and cereal…shhhhh) Amazing ribs, super tasty chicken, the best shrimp ever, and of course cheesecake. A turtle cheesecake to be exact. Adam thought it was disgusting (because it was more than, well, plain cheesecake) which really just meant more for my mom and myself to eat. YUM!
Anyways, I’m plugging along through pictures! I got a few new ones up there tonight which gets my caught up to before my mom got here and I’ll keep working to get through the rest!
