Monthly Archive for April, 2010

Pictures

Alright, I am almost done with April pictures.  Phew!  I just added 76 new ones and 0223 which wouldn’t upload the other day (because I’m sure someone noticed there was a gap in my numbering!).

…and then I have videos to do.  Stay tuned (not tonight).

Addieisms

A few recent Addieisms…

Asking for Special-K for breakfast “I want Super-K!”

Counting shredded wheats “1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 Mama, I have 9!  And no 4s!”

Going potty “Did you see my poops do a backflip?”

Car Seat

I know some people thought we were crazy for keeping Addie rear facing as long as we did. The decision was made because it is the safest way for a child to travel. Had I read this article a month ago she’d have stayed rear another year but I am happy we made the decision to keep her rear facing at least 3 years.

Check out the video. Yikes!

Jump Start

Addie thought she’d get a jump start!

Wow, she has been in rare form today!  I have to keep reminding myself that many of the traits that are wonderful in adults are not nearly as desirable in a 3 year old.  Particularly assertiveness, independence and persistence.  And the combination of the 3 is deadly.

Naps have never been easy but today she thought it was a game.  She’d be in her bed “1, 2, 3, 5 ready or not here I come!’ and come running out the door, fling it open and say “gotcha!” and run back giggling while you were trying to drag her back to bed and before you had a chance to get out the door she’d start again.  After 2 hours she had pretty much lost everything in her room that she has to lose and I stuck her in the stroller and went for a walk.  When we got home she played nice for a while and then ended up in time-out for not listening.  40 minutes later she was able to get out of time-out.  Not because time-outs take 40 minutes, they should take 3 minutes, but because when the person in time-out won’t stay there more than 10 seconds they take 40 minutes.  Now we’ve been down this road before when we started doing time-outs a year and a half ago.  But she caught on quicker, wasn’t so fast and didn’t think it was funny.  That’s the part that gets me!  When I put her back in time-out I’d tell her “you’re in time-out, you may not get up” and she’d get up, run off and say “yes I can!!!”  Finally though, when the rest of us sat down to eat dinner she decided she better finish her time-out so she could eat.

Oy, good thing we had Piper before Addie turned 3 or she might be an only child!

Swagbucks

So I think this is kind of neat (you all might think I’m a dork but that’s okay!)

There is a website called Swagbucks that is a search engine that pays you for searching!  You create a log-in account and then search like any other search engine.  But as you search you occasionally get points, or swagbucks, awarded to you.  It may be 10, 14, 17, 20, whatever.  Once you have a bunch you can go to the “Swagstore” and buy things with your swagbucks.  Also, for each person you refer you earn their swagbucks too!  So if you sign up and win 10 bucks then 10 get credited to your account and 10 to mine too.

For most people this isn’t a HUGE money maker (although for people that have a ton of referals it can be!) but every little bit helps right?  So far I’ve gotten 2 – $5 gift cards for Amazon and almost have enough points for another one.  And in all fairness the search engine isn’t spectacular (I much prefer google except I don’t get paid!).  What I mainly use it for is searching for sites I use daily Facebook, thebabywearer, google (lol), etc.

Anyways, if you are interested in signing up go here

It is at least worth checking out!
